History
The organization began as Executives' Secretaries, Inc. in San Francisco in 1938.  The name was changed in 1977 after the first Canadian chapter was chartered, reflecting EWI's international expansion, the changing roles of women in business and the diverse careers held by its 5,000 representatives.  Today, over 3,000 firms hold membership in EWI chapters throughout the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Belgium and The Netherlands.
